GOOD WITCH KEEPING SERIES (Waning Magick)

Welcome!

I find it so important to love your home and care for it the way it ought to be. Almost as much as you love yourself, really. It’s your home, after all. A lot of the time, we get so caught up with fast paced living that we forget to maintain our environment, and often times, we end up feeling the negative energies that stick to the walls of our home. One could honestly compare that to when we don’t do self-care.

Who would want to live in that environment? Or visit it?

So one may ask themselves, what sort of magick should you be conjuring in your home during the waning moon (last quarter)?

We focus on banishing, cleansing, and protection.

We burn incense, we dust, we vacuum. This is a time to focus on spells especially for breaking bad habits.

Below are a few and simple ways to conjure this sort of magick into the home.

Hot House Powder

Instructions:

Combine equal parts in a mortar and pestle. Grind to a fine powder. Burn over charcoal and use a cleansing tool to smudge across the halls and rooms of your home.

OR

You can place the powder in a black drawstring bag, and either place or pour across front/back doors, windows, bedrooms, or at the center of your home.

*Note* – If you cannot find Sulfur, you may substitute with Tobacco.

This Hot House Powder is perfect for cleansing and protecting your home. This is especially good if your home has recently been visited by unwanted guests. That goes for evil spirits as well. Or, your home is being swept by a sickness. Any kind of negativity. As well as, if you feel like black magick is being casted your way.

Breaking A Bad Habit Spell

Instructions:

This spell will give you a good reason to dust around the home, especially when your bad habits are often done at home. Collect the dust you swept and save in a bowl. Combine an equal amount and/or grind the needed herbs together. Mix this powder with the collected dust.

You will need to get the amount of candles to the same amount of bad habits you want to break. Ex: you have 3 bad habits, so you will need 3 candles.

Carve into each candle ONE word that represents the bad habit. Ex: DRUGS. GAMBLING. PROCRASTINATION.

Now, you will need a flat surface. With the powder, you will use it to draw out this symbol below:

Now place the candles along the corners of the sigil. If you are only using one candle, place in the center.

Focus your intentions on each candle when you light it. Allow the candles to burn down, along with your bad habits. See them burn away.

Once the candles are burned down, you may collect the powder and bury it outside from your home.

The spell is done.

Red House Carpet Powder

Instructions:

You will need a 1/2 cup of both the Baking Soda and Borax. Mix together. Then you will add 20-25 drops of Sandalwood Essential Oil. Mix thoroughly. Pour this mixture into the glass container. Then, sprinkle this powder over your carpets. Leave for 15-20 minutes, then vacuum.

I LOVE this Red House Carpet Powder. I use it EVERY time I vacuum. It leaves my carpets smelling so good, and the vibrations practically glow. It cleanses the area, and leaves it with a barrier of protection.

Well, I hope these spells are welcomed and bring forth good blessings.

To Enchant Your Words During Spellwork

During your Full Moon Ritual, consider drinking the tea or chewing on some Galangal Root. This will enchant your words, and empower your spells. And instill courage and strength.

To Manifest Good Energy To You

Take a walk in the woods, beach, or just relax in your balcony/backyard. Bring a stick, seven leaves from an ash or oak tree, several stones, and a white or green candle.
With the stick, draw a circle on the ground and mark the directions with your leaves. Keeping three to hold. Place the stones at the center of the circle. Light the candle, and concentrate upon your connection to the Earth and how you honor that connection, and will honor it in your life.

Then beginning towards to the East. Raise your stick and candle and say:

“Good luck rises for me in the East”

To the South:
“My love rises in the South”

To the West:
“My wishes rise in the West”

To the North:
“From the North, my dreams will come true”

Step out (preferably with your right foot first) from the circle, towards the North direction. Keep the leaves there for the night as an offering. Keep the three you held throughout the spell. Gather the stones before sunrise, or after a couple of hours of moonlight. And allow the candle to burn down.

Meditation Blessing

Sit comfortably in front of your altar. Meditate and begin to think of all the blessings you have in your life. Breathe steadily. Deeply inhale and exhale for 20 minutes. Then when you are ready chant:

“Great Goddess, giver of all the fruits of this Earth. Of all the bounty, beauty, and well-being. Bless all who give and receive these gifts. I am made of sacred Earth, Purest water, Sacred fire, And wildest wind. Blessings upon me. Blessings upon thee, Mother Earth. And Sister Sky.

So mote it be.”

Dragon’s Blood Bath

This mix is to empower and cleanse the magical spirit within you.
Ground equal amounts of:

Add the powder to a nice hot bath. Once submerged, open your senses and spirit in meditation. Envision a golden gate opening within you, and allow the energy of the bath to enter you.

Money Spray

Patchouli (herb or oil)

Brew the herb as a tea and let it sit for 10 minutes. As it steeps, chant over it:

Pat my pockets, Chou my money, but Li shall always return back to me.

Strain the tea, and mix with half of Spring water. Or add 7, 10, or 11 drops of patchouli oil to a full bottle of Spring water. And place it in a spray bottle. Lay out all your money, credit/debit cards, taxes, etc and give it a good spritz. Not too much, wouldn’t want to soak your money! And repeat the chant from above.

Anything you spend, shall return back to you.

Blue Moon Balm

Blend this oil during the full moon. Combine the following oils with either 4 ounces of unscented body lotion, or 2 ounces of olive oil, or sweet almond oil

Shake the oils together and place in a corked jar. Sit quietly in a room lit only by 1 blue candle and rub the balm gently into your skin after a bath.

Say aloud:

Work thy spell to heal and nurse. Blessed balm, banish my pain. Harm to none, and health to all.

Use this balm if ever a dreary day arises, or if a dark mood is present. It heals both body and mind.

San Cipriano Oil

This oil is universal. It is said that when blended true to your Spirit, it can create miracles. But it must be blended with pure intentions and not for selfish needs.

Grind the herbs to a very fine powder and blend. Cover them with olive, sunflower, and/or jojoba oil. Add the oils as the last step.

As it is being created, one must be a state of meditation. Your soul shall lead you in creating this miracle blend.

May this Full Moon be delightfully enriching for you all out there. Be sure to embrace the power that flows through you. Be filled with wisdom and love.

Blessed Be.

KNOW WHEN TO SUBSTITUTE THE RIGHT RARE HERB!

Herb Substitutions

Welcome!

As many herbal witches may know, our special recipes, whether passed down, or handcrafted, can require certain types of herbs. Many of these herbs are common kitchen ingredients, but there are some that do need special plants for the occasion.

However, there is always the issue that we may just never encounter such an herb, because of location, price, time of year. So, what do we do in such a situation? We substitute!

Below you will find a two part list of common herbs that have other herbs to use if you don’t have the necessary ingredient.

Just in case you’re uncertain, the first herb is the main ingredient. If you do not have it, follow the “>” symbol to the next herb. That is the herb to substitute with.

“M/” means to mix with.

“W/” means with.

Soon, I will write the list for rare herb substitutes. Be on the look out!

HERB SUBSTITUTIONS!

New Spring, New Kind of Lemonade!

As promised, I posted not to long ago a recipe that I experimented with. It was the first night of the Spring season, and I felt inspired for something refreshing, and relaxing.

My husband has had a good stash of cannabis in the pile, and I thought it was a good time to medicinally use some of it. That, and I had a good amount of lemons that needed to go.

What are the magickal properties to this wonderful recipe, you might be wondering? Well, my full intention was a good positive purifying recipe, from the lemons. For the cannabis, I used it to bring a deep calming spiritual balance. And of course, the sugar to sweeten and bless.

So, at about one in the morning, I went at it! (I knoooooow, late night owl over here lol).

Here are the ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 6 cups Water
  • 1 1/2 cup lemon juice (about 6-8 lemons)
  • 1 tbsp Cannabis (or how ever much you prefer. 1 tbsp is pretty mellow per one cup.)

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, cannabis, and 1 1/2 cup of water. Cook over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. 4-5 minutes. Then turn down the heat and let it simmer for 22 minutes.
  2. In the meantime, begin juicing your lemons until you are at 1 1/2 cup of liquid. I like to use a cheesecloth to strain out the pulp. If you’re a pulp person, then never mind this step.
  3. Now, remove the cannabis syrup from the heat, strain, and pour into your pitcher. Stir in lemon juice. Let the syrup cool. Then, add the rest of the water and stir until well combined.
  4. Store in the refrigerator, and enjoy over ice.

*Note* So, for a 1 tbsp of cannabis per one pitcher, I found it to be very relaxing and soothing. It took 3 cups for me to actually feel any other effects, and really, that only helped me sleep deeper. So, if your one that prefers a mellow blend, then this recipe should do. For one that wishes for a stronger effect, add 1 or more tbsp to your sugar water mix.

*Note Note* If you are on a certain diabetic or keto restricted diet, then you can do what I actually did for this recipe. Substitute the cane sugar for your own sugar substitute. In this case, I used monk’s fruit sugar. Same measurement. Yum!

Step 1.

Step 2.

Step.3

I hope you enjoy this blend responsibly, and legally! Have fun!

Cannabis Lemonade Is Our Way to Mellow Yellow!

All Souls Day

Samhain is here again! A new year taking us forward. What does that mean for us witches? Time to pull out the spells and offerings!Getting the home ready with protection charms and decorations! Purifying our lives with cleansing vibrations! Creating glamour spells to spook the trick or treaters. And brewing delicious magickal concoctions of food and drinks! (That last part being my favorite) Speaking of which, let me share this year’s Samhain tea recipe that I’ve blended.

Samhain Tea

Brew this in a pot of tea for several minutes. After steeping, stir the cinnamon stick several times, and add some delicious maple infused milk to the drink, till it’s good and creamy. Enjoy tonight as the trick or treaters come by! And believe in life and its fruitfulness.

Maple Milk

Gently warm the cup of milk in a small saucepan. Once it begins to steam, add the tablespoons of Maple syrup. Be sure not to boil it! Simmer it momentarily, as you stir in the syrup till it blends. Take it off the heat and pour it into a small creamer container. Enjoy with your tea!Oh, how I look forward to this magickal blend later tonight. This tea is meant to engulf us with its courageous influence, as it brings love and joy to our hearts. Life and all its luxuriance. Its meant to sooth us, mend us, and open new paths.

SPELLS!

Now, let’s talk spells! Tonight the Moon is in its last quarter. That means it’s the perfect time to ward off negative energies. Protect the home. Release the past. And divination time!Let’s see, we shall begin with tradition. Samhain is thinning the veil; the worlds between the living and the dead are face to face. They come to us with prayers, messages, or curses. And it is for this reason that we either welcome them, or ward them. Here is a simple ghost blessing spell.

Ghost Blessing

Place offerings of milk and barley outside under the stars to ease the ghosts hunger and to prevent their mischief. The maple infused milk is perfect for honoring the ancestors. Apples can also be buried at crossroads as offerings for the Goddess, or spirits.

Ghost Home Barrier

Place three peeled cloves of garlic in a bowl, together with one handful of pure sea salt, and one handful of fresh rosemary leaves. Grind and mesh ingredients together. Sprinkle them to create a boundary line over which ghosts will not cross. If you so happen to wish to choose this night of all nights to reveal to a ghost its current state of death, well, here is a spell for that.

Grouchy Ghost Spell

Burn three parts wormwood to one part vervain when summoning the ghost who is suffering from a state of depression when they died. Or when they haven’t realized they are dead. Speak softly and gentle. Offer honey to sweeten the news, or offer a plate of food for comfort. Speak as you understand, and try to offer advice and help them see the promise of the other side. It won’t be easy, but you would have to be open with them in order for them to believe you. Trust, it is rewarding when they do.

LAST THOUGHTS

Well may your Samhain be blessed, and the spirits at rest. May the trick or treaters be kind. And the food as good as wine. Have fun! Be merry!

Honor The Sacred Rites Of Samhain

Aura Repair

Let us rejoice towards the waning of the moon!

Beginning today, the last quarter moon is shedding its energy. Turning away from the active energies of the past, to rest and regenerate to begin again. Just as the Moon restores, so shall we. It is time to renew for a new beginning, rest, and then glow again with fresh power. To a turn of a new tide.

What I love to do most during this moon time, is to go to the spa to cleanse and relax. Not only does it feel good for the body, but for the soul. Every room feels like cozy warm blankets. The air carries a zen ambiance that calls to your senses. Seemingly endless pools of liquid heat and rejuvenating jet streams, soothing the muscles and heart. Every chakra point being called to open. Soothing sea salts fill every corner of the steam rooms. And amazingly pink Himalayan salt rooms covering every inch of the room. Resting in one of these rooms not only renews the aura, it centers a psychic’s abilities like chocolate syrup on top of ice cream! You feel so soothed by the end of the spa visit, and vibrant by your fresh energy, you can’t help but end the day with a good cup of tea, and then a peaceful nap. The next day is like seeing a sparkling new world. And your magick can touch and feel all the wonders of the Earth.

I highly recommend the experience! Search for your closest Korean spa, and go! Now! I recommend searching on Groupon. GROUPON has the best deals for Korean spas, and can help find the closest one to your location. So definitely, check it out. Because nothing is more delicious, than living deliciously. Ha!

Oh!

And that tea I mentioned earlier after such an amazing experience at the spa? Well, gladly sip on this tasty treat. This mix blend is a favorite of mine. I drink on this after my spa day. It keeps my spirits up, long after the moon is dark. Blend and enjoy with top quality organic ingredients only. That’s really the only best kind. And please be considerate of your health. Do not take if pregnant or nursing. Nor daily.

Aura Repair Tea

2 cup recipe. Once water is boiled, pour and brew for 5 – 10 minutes. Sweeten with either regular sugar, or I add coconut sugar. Sweetens just the same, although coconut sugar is much more keto friendly, plus it adds protective properties.

For this tea spell; after the herbs are finished brewing, bring the cup into your hands and hover your face over its steam. Inhale deeply, absorbing through the skin, and into the flow of your energy. There is no need for any words or chant. Only to instill within you the calming flow of the tea’s energy. Hold onto this moment for as long as you feel comfortable, then humbly, take a sip. Feel its essence become a part of you. Feel how your energy responds to it. Accept it wholeheartedly. Then rest with it.

I hope you enjoy this tea, and the idea of going to a spa! Give yourself that spa day you surely deserve and need! The results are amazing.

Many blessings, to you all!

Spa Day Every Month!

Psychic Eye Tea

Happy first of October!

As we step into a new month and steeping sweetly a new season, Autumn covers the veil with mystery and magick. Hence, during this time, we prepare our senses for new wonder and messages from the beyond. This is especially true for the psychics, mediums, fortune tellers, witches, craftwielders, etc. Most could say that the month of October inspires great energy, and tingles the senses. Taking into account the energy that is produced by the Draconids Meteor shower on October 8th, the great Blood Moon on October 24th, and the ever legendary Samhain night, on October 31st.

For such an inspiring month, let’s get started on stimulating our psychic senses and be prepared for what messages or signs our spirit guardians send to us. I give to you a tea recipe that I enjoy drinking on the first day of October. May it empower your own psychic powers, and center your third eye.

*fair warning. Be sure to be ready to open your psychic sensitivity after drinking this tea.

Psychic Eye Tea

Brew tea with boiled water, and let steep for 6 – 12 minutes. Add honey. Or milk. Or both. As you stir the tea clockwise, focus your gaze to the very bottom of the cup, to where it is darkest. Dive your focus to that center, as the liquid spins. Clear all thoughts. Then chant to yourself:

My eyes are open, the mind is clear.

I see the truth, with no fear.

My senses are open, the channel is clear.

I will receive, what no one else will hear.

Then sip the tea. Take your time. Enjoy it, relax into it. As though you are going into a trance meditation. Indeed, feel around with your senses. Touch your third eye, both physically and mentally. Note to yourself if you feel any sensitivity, pulsing vibration, or weightlessness. If you do feel any of these signs, then you are on the right track, and get ready.

You may repeat this brew once a week throughout the month. However, keep in mind to not proceed if you begin to feel too sensitive. Also, please be considerate, and do not drink this tea if you are pregnant or nursing, or not in top physical health. Thank you.

Well, enjoy! And have fun with your new found psychic awareness. Help others with your gift, but above all, grow yourself and be proud for who you are.

Psychics Need Tea Too

Festival of Hecate

August 24th,

Marks the Festival of Hecate. Day and Night of the Dark Mother. Of Earth and Sky. Keeper of the crossroads. Seer of the unknown. Queen of the witches. She speaks, and all remains silent for Her. For those that are guided by Her wisdom, honor Her on this day, her ascension from the underworld, with offerings of Earth, Heart, and Soul.

Interestingly enough, the days for this festival can be concluded by who traditionally worships Hecate. Most who honor Hecate, begin to honor her on August 13th. Which aligns with the dark moon, and the perseids meteor shower. This time symbolizes her descent into the underworld and the harvests of the earth.

Fun fact, August 13th was also worshipped for the festival of Diana. Where her followers celebrated her in the groves at Nemi. This festival lasted for up to a week of festivities, food, and dance.

Now, back to Hecate.

Both of these festivals were and are very similar. Especially considering that both Diana and Hecate are triple goddesses, some associate them as one deity. Like I do. Diana to me, is the maiden form, and Hecate is the crone form. Now, on this day, Hecate has had already descended into the underworld, and now begins to rise again to the heavens from her wise journey. And as the Full moon grows full, so will she claim herself as Queen again. With new knowledge and mysteries from the underworld. So, we invoke her and honor her, in hopes for her protection for the coming season, and for her new found wisdom.

How do we honor this Great and Ancient Goddess?

Personally, I honor each of her crossroads. I leave offerings of earth, sky, flame, and sea at each pathway, to open the doors for Her guidance. Her offerings include:

Eggs, Lavender, Honey, Garlic, Baked Goods

Incense, Candles, Daggers, Keys

Having your dog familiar by your side

These are just to name a few. But follow your heart of which offerings would be best for you to give.

I love to leave her lavender honey tea, and burn my special blend of incense for her.

HECATE’S INCENSE

This is the blend I burn while invoking the Goddess Hecate. Add even portions of the ingredients shown, and/or add odd drops of the essential oils to the blend. Smells divine when burned, and uplifts the soul. While the smoke fills the air, call out to Hecate with your own heartfelt chant and await her guidance. If you decide to have your familiar close by, pay special attention to their reaction. Hecate always greets dogs, and reveals herself to them. Keep an eye out for signs, or listen soundly. Often, she comes in dreams in the dead of the night, and reveals her messages then.

Essential Oils

I hope this night brings special moments for you, and Hecate grants you her wise guidance.

HECATE’S INCENSE BLEND

A Witch’s Home

I remember a time, when I was younger. Filled with wonder and adventure. With revived power and the desire to use it. I was constantly in motion. From the moment I could drive, I was on the road. Seeking wisdom and thrills, bundled together in youthful innocence. In that time, I honestly felt I had no home, and I was perfectly content to be one with the Air, in a whirlwind towards the unknowing.

It wasn’t until my twenty second year that I felt a stifling in my soul. To which I couldn’t understand why. Why was I feeling imprisoned, when I was free and roaming the land? Why did I feel lost, despite knowing where I was going? My power was waning, and I couldn’t fathom it. It wasn’t until mistakes were made, because of lack of sight, and no where to go to seek comfort, was when a vision came to me. It was nearing a Full Moon night. The pain in my heart ached, and in a pleading attempt, I called for the Moon’s aid. I asked Her to show me what was missing?

The answer was simple. I wasn’t wandering around aimlessly, or expressing my own freedom. The Great Moon had shown me that what I was really doing, was searching for my new home. It startled me at first. How could I be searching for a home, while I was living freely? While being my own person. The Moon answered.

Without purpose, there is no home to find. Without giving, there is no taking. And without balance, there is no power. Find where you belong, find where you are needed. That is your duty.

It was then, that it became clear to me. As witches, we live with the elements. Live by their example. We are born, with the flames of life in our souls. We flow through life, as water does. Travel like the wind, through land and fog. And then eventually, we sink our roots deep, to bloom and thrive. Just as the Earth shifted in place in time and in space, we too must shift to find our rightful home.

We must grow, travel, and seek the home that needs us, and that we deserve too. We must give our magick to help the land, and/or community. By giving, we will be gifted with magickal wonders. A witch’s purpose. A balance unlike anything else.

In the old days, villages had few and far in between, their own local “witch”. Who had set roots, and became the known healer, midwife, or adviser. Some had lived in these villages for generations, but most often the case was, that the witches moved in. Either through marriage, or travels. It was, I believe, a natural instinct within them, to move and travel to places where their power could thrive.

Just as our ancestors had done, we too must follow our instincts. It is our right and duty to search for fresh soil. To nurture our natural born power, at a home that calls to us. Even if that home eventually moves to another state, or country, if the call is heard, we must follow. Until our seeds are planted. Until our power feeds the land.

Honestly, the best song that comes to mind, is Simon and Garfunkel’s, America. Listen to it, and meditate. It’s inspiring.

A Witch Must Find Their Rightful Home
