May Day Magick

Happy Beltane, one and all!

And a very magical May day as well.

Did you find yourselves out at dawn, rolling in the morning dew for a youth spell? Did you collect the blooming buds of flowers to weave beauty and charm into your life? Or alight the great Beltane fires and jumped over them to bring fortune for the rest of the year!

Beltane is one among the fire festivals of the seasons. The coming of two seasons, joining together for electric Spring and Summer passion. It’s after this holiday, that many could say notice a magical air within the weather. A cool and heated embrace.

Many witches love to cast their magicks during this time. The energies are charged. Wiccans associate this with the aftermath of the God and Goddess lovemaking. When magick is blessed by their joined power. Nevertheless, magick is especially potent; fertile, and is easily accessible at this time.

Here are spells that are best done on Beltane, or anytime of this month.

                    Hearth Flame Spell

Turn off all the lights of the home just before sunset.

Outside, create a bonfire. Traditionally, 9 woods were casted into the fire to create a universal blessing. These woods are:

  • Birch
  • Rowan
  • Ash
  • Willow
  • Hawthorn
  • Alder
  • Oak
  • Holly
  • Hazel

As the fire is ablaze, light a white candle and bring it into the home to rekindle the hearth fire.

One can say a prayer or chant:

                     temporum beneficia
Season’s blessings.

Allow the white candle to burn down for the rest of the night. And the spell is done.

                Flame and Smoke Spell

For the coming summer, one has to cleanse and prepare. The summer season is time of change and activity, so this purification will help get you ready for the challenges to come.

Gather 2 candles. Color code it to fit with the sort of cleansing you wish.

  • White is universal cleanse
  • Yellow is mental cleanse
  • Blue is emotional cleanse
  • Green is body cleanse
  • Purple is spirit cleanse

Gather 2 incense. Again try to best fit with your cleanse.

  • Frankincense is universal
  • Copal is mental
  • Myrrh is emotions
  • Sandalwood is body
  • Dragon’s Blood is spirit

Sit in between these candles and incense and allow it to purify all that is within. Meditate. The spell is done.

                    The Sun’s Blessing

The sun is fully awake at this time, and grows stronger as summer nears. Sing to the Sun at noon time, to call down his blessings for the coming summer. It doesn’t matter which song to sing, just as long as it comes from the heart.

                             May Rain

Any rain that falls during this month is especially potent with magical properties. Collect the rainwater in order to contribute to most any spells. From healing, to cleanses, to prosperity, and luck. To love, to happiness, to mental powers, and psychic. Rainwater can even be distilled in order to add to magical dishes and teas!

This is but a few, and yet so much more can be done during this time of May. Be inspired, and feel the magick all around!

Another Moon Turn

Welcome and blessings!
Tonight makes the first quarter moon in Cancer. That means new spells to write!

Here are a three spells, each with their own magical purpose.

                    Blessing Meditation

Sit in a comfortable position in front of the altar, outdoors, or anywhere you feel safe and sacred. Meditate. Think about your blessings as you breathe steadily and deeply. Inhale, exhale, for about 20 minutes or so. Take your time. Your connecting with the energies around you, The spirits, and the Goddess.
When ready, chant:
I am made of sacred Earth, purest Water, holy Fire, and wildest Wind.

Great Goddess, giver of all the fruits of this Earth.

Of all bounty, beauty, and well-being.

Bless all who give and receive these gifts.

Blessings upon thee.

Blessings upon me.

So mote it be.

                 Moon’s Desires Ritual

Once the day begins to set, and the first quarter moon rises. Don a white shirt or dress. Bring a moonstone and take a walk outside. Gather wildflowers, dandelions, grasses, and sit somewhere where you can watch the moon rise. Weave a wreath crown as you absorb the coming of night.

Once finished, burn frankincense, or nag chamba. Light 4 white candles and place the crown upon the head.

Hold the moonstone in the left hand and begin to concentrate on a desired outcome. Whether that be for creative fulfillment, happiness, releasing anger, etc.

Arms outstretched, eyes on the moon. Sing or chant when your power has build:
Luna, in your seventh heaven,

I invoke you now.

Brighter than any star, you are.

I will sing your magic song,

If you but shine my desire.

I will walk your sacred path,

If you but make it so.

Be here now!

Repeat as much as you feel is right. Then meditate awhile for any visions that may arise. Or use tarot cards to find the response to your desires.

New Moon Spells

Merry meet and welcome!

With the recent New Moon in Pisces, many have asked what sort of spells are the best ones to do during this time. Here is a list of the best type of spells to do during a new moon.

  • Defense Spells – This can be for any which way you feel attacked. Either physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually. Bindings are typically the best line of defense. But also enchanted powders can be used for building barriers of protection.
  • Return to Sender Spells – These spells go hand in hand with defense spells. However it takes it one step forward. Not only do these spells protect you from any malicious energy, spells, or entities, but they also can send that very same energy back to the sender.
  • Spirit Magick – Whether it be astral projection, spirit communication, or spiritual meditation, this is the time to practice and get deep.
  • Ward Evil Spells – Just like defense spells but specifically against paranormal activity, with a kick. Ghosts. Poltergeist. And Demonic entities.

Here are a few simple yet strong spells that fall under a few of these categories.
                          Hearth Fire Spell

    Combine and ground together:

    • Angelica
    • Bay leaves
    • Juniper
    • Mugwort
    • Wisteria

Burn herbs in the hearth to call upon powers of protection and warmth.
    —-

                  Shadows of the Past Spell

These herbs are specifically used to recall past life memories.

    • Bay leaves
    • Honeysuckle Blossoms
    • Lilac Blossoms
    • Juniper

Burn the powdered ingredients on lit charcoal before bedtime.
    —-

                    Return to Sender Spell

Use if it is felt or known that gossip, negativity, a hex, or otherwise is being thrown against you.

Gather powdered Clove and burn over charcoal. Smudge the incense all around you, and walk it out your front door.
If it is known who the sender is, return it back to them by placing a piece of paper with their name under the charcoal patty. And burn the clove. As it burns, say their name three times. Start as whisper, then louder, and lastly as a shout.

Leave the charcoal to burn the rest of the way outside your front porch. Don’t think of it till the next day.

    —-

Enjoy the spells and be sure to have a safe and magical New Moon.

    Blessed Be!

    New Moon Sunset. Glorious evening!

    All About Imbolc!

    Get ready for Imbolc!

Traditionally, Imbolc can be celebrated either on the 1st of February, or on the 2nd. Some celebrate during both days; from sunset to sunset. Imbolc is one of the fire festivals, and is typically celebrated with candlelight. Lots and lots of candlelight! Ceremonies are created outside, in the cold winter chill, to usher in the Sun’s warmth into the soil of Earth. Homes are prepared for the coming of Spring. By means of spring cleaning, and cleansings.  Seeds are blessed. Either for the garden, or for growth spells. Purification rites, and cleansing baths are drawn. Kitchen magick is ablaze to enchant the heart and thaw the mind. By whatever which way to awaken the spirit, is perfect to do during these days!

If a festival shall ever arise, be sure to have proper refreshments! Such as this delicious spiced wine recipe!

                    Spiced Wine for Imbolc

    • 1 cup water
    • 2 cups pineapple juice; organic if possible
    • 1 cup orange juice; freshly squeezed is best
    • 1/4 cup (or to taste) raw, local honey
    • 9 whole cloves
    • 3 cinnamon sticks
    • Pinch of sea salt

Add all ingredients to a crock pot and heat on high for 2 hours, stirring once or twice.
Turn crock pot to low, remove lid, and wait for juice mixture to come to below 180 degrees.

Add a bottle of red wine, and allow to warm up.

Either drink warm, chilled, or room temp; all are good. Although, I happened to like it chilled.
If one plans to do a ceremony to honor the holiday, here is an incense and oil recipe.

                            Imbolc Incense

Measure by how much you want.

    • 6 Parts Frankincense
    • 4 Parts Dragon’s Blood
    • 2 Parts Red Sandalwood
    • 1 Part Cinnamon

                                 Imbolc Oil

    • 8 drops Frankincense
    • 6 drops Rosemary
    • 2 drops Cinnamon
    • 1/2 Base Oil

Now, if there are baking lovers out there, and wish to push the love of pie making into your craft and holiday, here is a deliciously simple blackberry pie recipe! And if you wish, can even dedicate it to the Goddess Brighid, who is a popular Goddess for this holiday.

                  Brighid’s Blackberry Pie

    • 1 (15 ounce) package pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
    • 4 cups of fresh blackberries
    • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
    • 1/5 cup all purpose flour
    • 1/4 tsp salt
    • 1 tablespoon butter

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Line a 9 inch deep dish pie pan with one of the crusts. If you wish to dedicate this pie to the holiday, carve a symbol on the bottom of the pie crust with a tooth pick.

In a bowl, mix the sugar, flour, and salt together. Sprinkle over blackberries in a larger bowl, and toss to coat. Pour into the pie crust. Dot with butter. Place the other pie crust over and secure the ridges. Slice a design over the top of the pie crust to vent steam.

Place in the oven for 1 hour, or until crust begin to brown. Let cool to room temperature before serving to allow the filing to set.

Blessed Be, and have a beautiful Imbolc days.

    First New Moon 2017

    Merry meet,

This new moon is a glorious awakening. Of mind, and of new sight. The moon is in Aquarius’s chamber this night. A night for reflection, and creating a new innovative path for the future. Keep in mind, for this, one should consider casting spells to bless one’s choices and protect their path.

A few simple spells to do under this new moon night.

                      ~ New Moon Spells ~

Burn a sprig of Rosemary. As it burns, meditate within and chant:

“I honor myself during this new moon hour. The choices I make will be blessed with power.”

    »»»
Create a hydrosol with Yellow or White Roses, and  Violets. Let it sit out under the New Moon sky.
Use as a mist spray that day forward, for luck and to manifest your goals.

    »»»
With a green candle, sprinkle Nutmeg powder over it’s flame, and chant:

“New Moon fire, cast my desire. The road before me shall be blessed.”

    »»»
Gather a handful of Grains of Paradise. Find a special spot either outside your home, or open area, on the night of the New Moon. Or when you take a first step outside your home the day after a New Moon. Toss the Grains to each of the four directions, and make a wish.
    »»»

Cast a circle of Bay Leaves, around a black candle. Light the candle and chant:

“Circle of protection, I cast onto me. The barrier is forged. No harm by earth, sky, or sea.”

Take care on this new moon night! Many blessings to you all.

    Abra-Melin Oil Recipe

    Merry meet and welcome!

I’ve always enjoyed collecting recipes through my studies, and have came across so many humbling spells and recipes that I finally feel wise enough to share them. Most have been tested and proven. One very important recipe that I’ve found works wonders, is Abra-Melin’s Oil.

This recipe derives from biblical records in the formulas used in Jerusalem Temple. In my research, it was long ago recorded in a prominent grimoire allegedly written by Abraham Ben Simeon in 1458. He was taught this recipe by his teacher, named Abra-Melin, a Jewish magician from Egypt.

It is used for high ceremonial rituals. And most importantly, it is used to conjure and pacify spirits.

    Abra-Melin’s Oil

    • Essential oil of Cinnamon bark or leaf
    • Essential oil of Galangal
    • Essential oil of Myrrh

    My recipe of the oil

    • 15 drops of Cinnamon bark or leaf
    • 10 drops of Galangal
    • 5 drops  of  Myrrh

Like most magical recipes, it is important to get the recipe just right. I was taught that this is judged by the practitioner who is creating the mix. If what you’re creating feels and smells right to you, then the recipe is flowing with your energy. The measurements of my recipe is perfect for me, because it matches the flow of my magick, but it may be different to yours. So experiment, practice, take your time with this. You’ll want it to be perfect.

    Believe me… It’s worth it.

    First Full Moon 2017

    Hello and blessings!

Today marks the first full moon of the new year! Happy times! And especially magical times. The moom is in Cancer, which strongly pulls at our greatest heart’s desires. Anything that concerns matters of the heart, relationships, friendships, personal healings, should be done on this full moon night.

I only saw this night for blessings and honor for others. I set outside my circle, and all that I needed for the ritual. It was so fortunate that the rain passed through without reaching my neighborhood. I was praying for that. From this, the sky was clear, with only the moon shining bright over me.

I casted the circle, and summoned the four guardians of the watchtowers. Then I called upon Diana, the Great Moon. Which was revitalizing and empowering! I created a simple full moon incense to burn during ritual. The incense consisted of two resins that many will already know of, for it is popular.

    • Sandalwood
    • Myrrh

These two resins combined create a sacred space and protects it from unwanted energies. They are also resins of the moon, so I burned them in offering to the Great Moon.

I also had decided to charge some moon tea. Since the moon is in a water element, I found it fitting. The tea was:

    • Green tea
    • Jasmine
    • And a pinch of Mugwort

During ritual, I swirled the bottle clockwise, three times, and shine the full moon light through the glass. Then chanted what I wished for it to magically be blessed with. And then left it under the moonlight all night until the raining morning. Jasmine is associated with the moon and horoscope sign of Cancer. Whereas Mugwort is related to the divinity of Diana of the Great Moon. The green tea ties them together by bringing balance and wisdom.

After all was said and done, and blessings were casted, I closed the circle. But not before taking a moment to pay honor to the Earth, and the spirits within. This was a wonderful, and fulfilling ritual. A perfect first moon to start for the rest of the year.

Many blessings to you all! And I hope your full moon rituals went beautifully!

    Blessed Be!

    Ushering in the Winter Season

    Merry meet!

The winter season is here and a part of us now. However, before such time, we must help the Great Mother by ushering the season onto the land.

We welcome this season, by embracing the Sun’s hopeful rays, and projecting these rays into the cold winter weather. All the while, accepting the dark chill, and creating balance within and around ourselves.

Facing this seasonal balance, I then do morning prayers. It begins with my own winter incense blend.

    Winter Incense

    Equal parts of:

    • Bay (or Bayberry)
    • Frankincense
    • Rosemary

Then, I prepare a winter altar. As I light the winter candles, I burn the incense. Calling to the Goddess, I chant:

We give honor and thanks to the Sun for it’s sustenance, warmth, and light

      *Ad Aurora*

And as our blessed mother earth is rebirth in the spring
So time is rebirth in the morning.

      *Ad Aurora*

      *Blessed be the Goddess*
I open all windows, and let the winter season hear my call. We as one create a balance, and so comes the new year.

      Blessed be. And happy holidays.

The 12 Days of Winter Solstice

      Merry meet! Welcome!

The time of a new season is upon us, and once again celebration is in order! I prepared a list of activities to do for the 12 upcoming days until December 21st. And though I have a list, does not mean they can be copied. One thing is sure, that everyone creates their own traditions!

Day 1: Decorations & Candle Light Ritual
      Day 2: Yule Tree
      Day 3: Wish Ornament
Day 4: Full Moon Road Trip
      Day 5: Make a 12 Herb Sachet
      Day 6: Bake Winter Bread
Day 7: Make a Yule Log
Day 8: Holiday Gift Exchange To a Stranger
      Day 9: Honor the Spirits
Day 10: Warm Tea & Rest
Day 11: Give Gifts & Feast
Day 12: Burn the Yule Log
Though the list of activities may change, every year I always begin the 12 days with a candle lighting ceremony.

«First Day Towards the Winter Solstice»

      Candle Light Ritual
Begins with turning off all lights in the home. Lighting one candle, walk through the house, beginning at the front door. Chant:

~ Within the dark, the candle shall light the way.
For though winter is cold, it shall not reign.
Within the dark, our hope shall not die.
For soon the Sun will rise in the sky.
Within the dark, there is no despair.
For our shining souls will renew and repair.
So sing songs into the Winter night,
For soon the winds shall bring Spring light. ~
This is a beautiful ceremony, that blesses the dark. You will notice a significant difference within the home.

Blessed be, brothers and sisters! Enjoy your winter activities!
